IV Eagle Flyby - August 31, 2023

The opening week of school was sensational, and things are steadfast moving forward into the 2023-2024 school year. Below are a few informational items for your review.

Career Cafe

This year we celebrate our 5th Year hosting Career Cafes at Indian Valley Middle School! “Career Cafes,” (adapted from Kathleen Goodman, School Counselor) are an opportunity for all students in 6th-8th grade to attend a Career Speakers Presentation during their lunchtime. Once a Marking Period, speakers will present at 6th, 7th, and 8th grade lunches.

If you are interested in participating as a Career Speaker for this upcoming school year, please reply to IVMS School Counselors, Kristen Raught and Jennifer Toby at kraught@soudertonsd.org and jtoby@soudertonsd.org. In your e-mail, please also include your job title and contact information. Further information will be sent to those interested in participating regarding the format of presentations and dates for this school year.

School Counseling Intern

This Fall Semester, Amanda Kolb, will be joining our School Counseling Team for her Fall Internship! Amanda attends Gwynedd Mercy University and is a Certified Elementary School Teacher. We are looking forward to a fantastic semester with Amanda joining us here at IVMS!

Book Fair

The Scholastic Book Fair will be held from Monday, September 11th through Friday, September 15th in the library.  The Book Fair will also be open on Back to School Night on September 12th, so stop down! Information and details about the Book Fair, including how to sign up for a cashless e-Wallet can be found on the Book Fair Web site.

Parent Volunteers

We are grateful for the parental support at IV. To further optimize parent participation and volunteering opportunities, a committee was formed with Dr. Catherine Heller and parents that volunteered to be on the committee. The committee is in the final stages of completing the Indian Valley Middle School Parent Volunteer Registry. This is an online form for parents to volunteer for events. Calculator Orders

The IV calculator sale ends on Friday, September 22, 2023. The TI-30XS calculators cost $15.00. The calculators can be ordered on the IV Web site. You can also go directly to the IV website, click on online payments, and then click on calculators. Order forms can also be picked up in the main office. Note that the student’s name and math teacher are required on the order form. If you have any questions, call the main office at 215-256-8896.
