Academics: Keyboarding & Word Processing

Sixth Grade Keyboarding
Using "Microsoft Word," the students will first develop sufficient keyboarding skill to operate the keyboard by touch. Emphasis will be put on the correct techniques of fingering, position, and key stroking. Time will be spent on careful proofreading and spell checking of all work. The students will also start to utilize the keyboard as a basic communication tool.

Seventh Grade Keyboarding
Students will continue to refine the keyboarding skills that they began in sixth grade. They will investigate the "Microsoft Word" computer software and apply many of its features to producing various types of documents. Emphasis will be on the proper formatting of simple reports, letters, tables as well as complex reports with a bibliography, title page, and table of contents. Students will leave this course with a valuable life skill.
